Sheffield Wednesday are chasing a deal for departing Sheffield United left-back Max Lowe, it’s been reported.
Sheffield Wednesday look set to add Max Lowe to their ranks ahead of his Sheffield United contract expiry this summer.
The 27-year-old full-back will leave Bramall Lane after four years and looks set to make the switch across the Steel City.
The 2024/25 Championship campaign will see the return of the Sheffield derby for the first time since the 2018/19 season.
Lowe could be one of the few to play for both teams, and one of even less to play in a Steel City derby.

Keith Treacy
Former Republic of Ireland international Keith Treacy played for both Sheffield clubs on loan; for United in 2009 and Wednesday in 2012.
For the Owls, 35-year-old Treacy made seven appearances with one goal and one assist during the 2011/12 League One campaign.
Joe Mattock
Joe Mattock spent time on loan with Sheffield United in 2011, later signing a permanent deal with the Owls in 2012.
In three years at Hillsborough, Mattock made 66 total appearances and currently plays for Harrogate Town, where his contract expires this summer.
Chris O’Grady
Attacker Chris O’Grady is another who spent time on loan at Sheffield United but was a permanent player for the Owls, though his loan spell with the Blades came after his spell in S6.
O’Grady was a well-liked player when he played for Sheffield Wednesday between 2011 and 2013, making 60 appearances with 13 goals and six assists.
Caolan Lavery
Currently at Doncaster Rovers, Canadian Caolan Lavery started his career at Sheffield Wednesday, making 39 total appearances and scoring six goals.
The striker spent a lot of time out on loan and was eventually released in 2016, then joining Sheffield United who he made 36 appearances for in three seasons.
Leon Clarke
Veteran striker Leon Clarke scored goals for both Sheffield Wednesday and United.
He scored 18 in 87 for the Owls and 32 in 96 for the Blades, which was arguably his more memorable stint, helping the club to promotion from League One in 2017 and then to the Premier League in 2019.
David McGoldrick
David McGoldrick was also prolific during his United spell between 2018 and 2022, scoring 30 goals, but he was less so for Sheffield Wednesday.
He was briefly on loan from Nottingham Forest in 2011, scoring just once in four games.

Gary Madine though is one who was very prolific for Sheffield Wednesday, and not so for United.
He was something of a cult hero during his spell with the Owls between 2011 and 2015, scoring 28 goals in 113 total appearances.
In 2019, Madine scored three in 16 whilst on loan at United from Cardiff City.
Marvin Johnson
Still at Sheffield Wednesday, Marvin Johnson spent time on loan with Sheffield United from Middlesbrough during the 2018/19 season, featuring just 12 times in all competitions.
He was brought back into the fold under Danny Rohl last season and played a key role in the Owls’ eventual 20th place finish.
Ben Heneghan
Manchester-born Ben Heneghan started his career at Stoke City but would later join Sheffield United in 2017, leaving in 2020 with just one first-team appearance to his name.
He signed for the Owls in 2022 and showed promise before injury ruled him out for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, though he’s since found form with Fleetwood Town.
Nathaniel Mendez Laing
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was key for Derby County in their promotion-winning League One campaign last season.
He joined the Rams after his Wednesday release in 2022 and previously played for Sheffield United on loan from Wolves, way back in 2011.
