A video of Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl at Barry Bannan’s charity event last night has emerged on social media.
Barry Bannan was appointed as the new ambassador of The Children’s Hospital Charity in Sheffield earlier this year, before it was announced that he would kick off his new role with a fundraising event at Mercure St Paul’s Hotel & Spa on Sunday evening.
The event was hosted by Steve Bracknall, holding Q&As with a number of current and former Sheffield Wednesday players, including first-team stars, Dominic Iorfa, Josh Windass, Liam Palmer, Cameron Dawson, Callum Paterson, Michael Smith and Will Vaulks.
Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers put on a musical performance, while guests were also treated to a three-course meal.
As well as welcoming the current crop of Owls who have now won four of their last five games, Danny Rohl was welcomed to the venue by the excited attendees.
As the German coach entered the event, ‘Daddy Cool’ by Boney M. was played out of the speakers, with supporters and players singing and clapping to ‘Danny Rohl’ on their feet.
Rohl definitely enjoyed his serenade and shook hands with various fans as he made his way to the stage, before taking photos with his avid supporters.
Barry Bannan is an ‘absolute credit’
Journalist Joe Crann even claimed that the 34-year-old was bidding on an auction for a round of gold with Barry Bannan, with the proceeds going towards the charity. Though it is unclear whether he won the prize…
Crann went onto write on X: “I’m not being overly dramatic when I say that the event that @SheffChildrens and @bazzabannan25 put on tonight was love affirming… One of those nights that reminds you how much bigger than the game a football club is. Everyone involved is an absolute credit to #SWFC.”

Born in Scotland, Bannan has spent the last nine years in Sheffield and has become a bit of a legend in the city.
As well as putting on yesterday’s event, the midfielder had already raised a huge £2,655 after auctioning off one of his shirts recently.
Bannan is a huge credit to the club and the city, and is one example of the exact kind of professional we want at Hillsborough. Those who joined him at last night’s event are also brilliant for the club and are well loved by fans.
