Wednesday star appears to let slip that Lee Camp is training with Owls after leaving Birmingham City

The former Birmingham City goalkeeper Lee Camp seems to be training with Sheffield Wednesday.

Camp is without a club after his Birmingham contract expired at the end of last season.

And he appears to feature in a photo uploaded to Instagram by the Wednesday midfielder, Massimo Luongo, earlier.

Camp was a regular under the Owls manager, Garry Monk, at Birmingham, where he also worked closely with Monk’s coaches James Beattie and, in particular, Darryl Flahavan.

Wednesday, who have used Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith in goal this season, released their previous third-choice option, Paul Jones, in July.

But it remains to be seen if Camp is being considered for a permanent contract at Hillsborough.

Wednesday hope to offload the exiled Keiren Westwood before Friday’s deadline for domestic transfers.

And signing Camp would leave the Owls with greater cover in the even of Westwood’s exit.

The 36-year-old began his career at local club Derby County and had permanent spells at Queens Park Rangers, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion, Bournemouth, Rotherham United and Cardiff City before being signed by Monk at Birmingham.
