Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Swansea City could reunite them with a player who reportedly rejected a summer switch to Hillsborough.
According to Football Insider, Ryan Bennett turned down a ‘last-gasp’ approach to join the Owls on loan.
The website claimed that Bennett was for sale for around £3 million and he later signed a permanent deal with Swansea, after Wednesday had brought in Aden Flint on loan from the Welsh side’s rivals Cardiff City.
Since making his debut the following week, the 30-year-old has started six of a possible seven games for Steve Cooper’s side – in which time he has helped them to two wins, three draws, two clean sheets and has allowed just four goals past him.
And Bennett will perhaps fancy his chances of improving that run against a Wednesday team who have failed to score in seven of their 12 league games this season, and found the net on just six occasions.
Whom the former Leicester City loanee is likely to be marking remains to be seen, with the Owls unable to call on either Jack Marriott (injury) or Josh Windass (suspension) at the Liberty Stadium.
