Danny Rohl has claimed that Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt an injury blow over Akin Famewo and Kristian Pedersen after last night’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City.

This news comes from Danny Rohl who was speaking with The Star.

So, what has the Sheffield Wednesday head coach Rohl said about Famewo and Pedersen? Let’s take a closer look…

Danny Rohl delivers update on two Sheffield Wednesday players

Well, it never rains it pours for Wednesday at the moment and losing Famewo and Pedersen leaves Rohl light of defenders.

Famewo has played as a left-sided option several times this season, with Pedersen also operating on that side.

Now, Rohl has delivered an update after both Wednesday players were omitted from the 20-man squad for last night’s defeat in the East Midlands.

Speaking to The Star after last night’s game, Rohl said: “With Akin it’s not good, with Kristian Pedersen it’s not good, they may be out for some weeks and more – this is the situation where we are.”

Pedersen is naturally going to be the injury that causes the most frustration for Rohl.

The Danish defender only checked in from Swansea on transfer deadline day and was identified as a left-sided defensive option.

Famewo has made 29 appearances for Wednesday this season and his versatility will definitely be missed across the back four by Rohl.

Next man up for Rohl as Owls face relegation fight

The Owls do still have options and hopefully, these two players missing out don’t make too much difference.

Given the team’s current plight, it’s still frustrating that Wednesday are now set to be without two experienced players.

Pedersen hasn’t had a chance to prove himself but it must be so annoying for Rohl that he lands a Wednesday target and now cannot call upon him.

Famewo has done well when he’s played this season but he was unlikely to oust Di’Shon Bernard and Michael Ihiekwe from the central defensive positions.

Players like Reece James have waited patiently and perhaps now he can stake a claim for a place in Rohl’s plans.

Rohl had already been dealt a bit of a dodgy hand at Wednesday and now his job of keeping the club in the Championship has become a little bit more difficult.
