Sheffield Wednesday defender Ciaran Brennan is open to a move away from the club in January, reports claim.
Sheffield Wednesday man Brennan, 23, is yet to feature for the Owls this season, and yet to feature this year.
The defender spent time on loan at Swindon Town last season but saw his spell at the club cut short by injury.
Now, Yorkshire Live are reporting that the Irishman is considering his future at Hillsborough and that he will explore options in the upcoming January transfer window.
And commenting on the matter, Owls reporter Dom Howson posted on X:
“Ciaran Brennan could be on the move in the January transfer window. Has not played for #SWFC since March 2022.
“Probably is time for him [Brennan] to go elsewhere and play regular first team football.”
The Sheffield-born defender has made 18 total appearances for the Owls first-team, having made 21 during his loan spell with Swindon last season.
Time to move on?
Brennan was once a really promising young player, but for a number of different reasons; injuries and changes in management being the main two, Brennan has failed to kicked on at Wednesday.
And at 23 years old it’s perhaps time for him and the club to part ways so that Brennan can really kickstart his career.
He obviously lacks first-team experience for a player of his age, but he definitely showed potential in the past and with Swindon last time round, so he surely won’t be short of suitors should he opt to leave Hillsborough.
Expect a permanent move rather than another loan spell too, with Wednesday likely to want to clear the books as much as possible in the New Year.
