Steve Bruce has insisted that Sheffield Wednesday will not give up their fight for the play-offs – even if it means helping out their rivals, Sheffield United.
Wednesday travel to second-placed Leeds United on Saturday evening, six points adrift of the top six.
And with Leeds only a point and a place above Sheffield United ahead of Saturday’s games, some Owls fans have urged their side to take their foot off the gas at Elland Road.
But asked whether such as scenario would be considered, Bruce told BBC Radio Sheffield:
To be honest I’ve never heard it yet, because I think we’re all engrossed in what we have to do ourselves. Do you think I can go into the dressing room and say: by the way, lads, you can get beat today because we don’t want the other half of the city (to go up)? We’ve got to make sure that we take part in the game and for our own sake, we’ve still got a squeak. It’s only a squeak but we must take it – if we can.

Wednesday take to the field around 45 minutes after Sheffield United’s game at home to Millwall is scheduled to finish.
And the best case scenario from an Owls perspectives would be victories for both away sides.
