Steve Agnew was filmed playing cricket with the Sheffield Wednesday squad on Friday morning, amid reports he could follow Steve Bruce to Newcastle United.
It had been claimed that Bruce was due to be confirmed as Newcastle’s new manager later today, but according to Sky Sports’ Pete Graves the Owls boss was back at Middlewood Road earlier.

What that means remains to be seen. And while it is most likely the case that Wednesday and the Magpies are continuing to negotiate a fee for the 58-year-old, there is perhaps a small chance that he (or at least his staff) could stay on at Hillsborough.
And, captured on Lucas Joao’s Instagram story, Agnew certainly appeared to be in high spirits, as did the Owls players present.

According to reports, Bruce is likely to take both Angew and Stephen Clemence with him if he’s offered the chance to succeed Rafa Benitez at Newcastle.
