Son of Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri starts following Cardiff City's Callum Paterson on Instagram

The Cardiff City utility player, Callum Paterson, is the latest person Att Chansiri has followed on Instagram.

Elias Kachunga, Chey Dunkley, Josh Windass, Connor Wickham, Alessio da Cruz and Massimo Luongo each joined Wednesday after being followed by Chansiri, whose father is the Owls chairman, Dejphon.

The Wednesday manager, Garry Monk, has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his side’s options at centre-forward and is also said to be after a right-wing-back – two positions in which Paterson is comfortable.

The Scotland international began his career in the latter role but has spent much of his Cardiff career playing further upfield, where his six-foot-two-inch frame has been utilised to good effect.

In his 106 games for Cardiff, Paterson has scored or assisted 29 goals, and the 25-year-old could help to fill the physical void created by the losses of Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu at the end of last season, if he moves to Wednesday.

Paterson has two years left on his Cardiff contract, but has yet to appear for the Bluebirds in any competition this campaign.

Speaking after Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat against Fulham on Tuesday, Monk reiterated that the Owls are looking mainly at loans and free transfers ahead of next month’s transfer deadline, but said that permanent deals are possible if they fall within the club’s ‘parameters’.
