Some Sheffield Wednesday fans are fuming with Tony Pulis’ decision to bring Josh Windass off for Liam Palmer after they watched the Owls throw away a one-goal lead against Norwich City.
The 65th minute substitution saw the Yorkshire outfit move to a much more defensive shape, which ultimately invited more pressure from Norwich, and eventually the East Anglians made them pay.
Pulis is famed for being a defensive manager who is good at seeing these types of situations out, but his poor game management today sees him still waiting for his first win as Wednesday manager.
To be fair to the gaffer, taking Windass off for Palmer isn’t the worst switch in the world when you’re trying to defend a lead, but to try to park the bus for 25 minutes against one of the most potent attacking outfits in the division is rather ambitious.
Perhaps if he’d have made this switch with five or ten minutes to go in the game we’d be talking about a different outcome, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.

Some Wednesday fans clearly feel that this change cost them the game, and to be honest, we can’t blame them for having that point of view.
