Jacob Murphy’s Instagram made for interesting viewing this weekend.
The on-loan Newcastle United winger – who won the penalty from which Steven Fletcher scored Sheffield Wednesday’s second goal in a 3-1 win at Charlton Athletic on Saturday – posted several updates from the Owls players’ Christmas trip to Barcelona on Sunday.
Among the highlights were a photo of the team in fancy dress costumes and a video of them serenading Julian Börner with a rendition of the song sung to the German defender by the Hillsborough faithful.
Things took a sour turn, however, when one of Murphy’s followers posted the below response to one of the 24-year-old’s posts:
But Murphy hit back, replying:
And he followed that up by removing all of his recent posts from his profile.
Murphy has not had the warmest of welcomes from the Sheffield Wednesday fanbase, after moving to Hillsborough on a season-long deal from Newcastle at the end of the summer transfer window.

But his contribution has been felt, nonetheless, with the Norwich City academy product having scored or assisted a goal every 229 minutes for the Owls.
Murphy was brought to Newcastle from Norwich by Rafa Benitez, in a £12 million deal two-and-a-half years ago.
