Sheffield Wednesday under-21 star Sean Fusire is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
According to the Sheffield Star, the 18-year-old has undergone surgery on a hernia, so is expected to be out for the majority of the season.
But it is hoped he will be back in time for the under-21’s last game of the season in May.

Fusire is a midfielder who has been brilliant in the last year.
He made his senior debut for Wednesday last season and also spent pre-season in Spain with the first team.
Journalist for the Sheffield Star, Joe Crann, posted on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), saying: “Understand #SWFC’s U21 captain, Sean Fusire, has had to undergo a hernia operation and will now face months on the sidelines as he recovers.
“There is hope that he’ll be able to get back playing before the season ends. Sad end to a productive 2023 for him.”
Fusire will be a big miss
Under-21s manager Neil Thompson gave Fusire the captaincy for this season after he impressed last season with his ability and attitude.
He will be a big miss for the under-21s, who are mounting a title charge, with Thompson’s side currently sitting in third place in the league, eight points off league leaders Sheffield United.
Wednesday’s next game is on Tuesday night against Hull City, and they will be looking to bounce back from defeat against Fleetwood Town at the weekend.
But they it will be tough without the goals of Bailey Cardarmarteri, who will likely be involved with the first team when they face league leaders Leicester City on Wednesday night.
