Sheffield Wednesday took a look at goalkeeper Dylan Thompson but look set to miss out to Tottenham. The Norwich talent is a burgeoning talent but has turned down a new deal at Carrow Road.
According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Tottenham look set to win the race to sign him. Thompson has been training with the Premier League outfit after a contract dispute with Norwich.
Wednesday had been monitoring the situation too as they look to enhance their goalkeeping option. Now, however, it looks as though the player won’t be heading to Hillsborough.

Tottenham are hoping to agree on a small fee with Norwich to sign Thompson soon. Clearly, they’re happy with him and hope to snap him up for their academy ranks.
Only time will tell whether Wednesday have missed a trick with this one. The custodian won’t be making an impact on the first team just yet with Tottenham but the club hopes that he can do one day.
Wednesday currently have Neil Thompson in temporary charge as the club tries to find a replacement for Xisco Munoz. The Owls drew 0-0 with Huddersfield on Saturday to make it 11 games without a victory in the Championship.
Wednesday to miss out on goalkeeper
This is a bit of a blow for Wednesday. However, they do have Pierce Charles in their ranks and he’s pretty highly rated at Hillsborough and has been on the bench this season.
Thompson will hope to impress pretty quickly at Tottenham. The North Londoners also have an extensive goalkeeping department and he will link up with the under-21s.
It’s good to see that Wednesday are trying to attract young talents. The Owls signed some players who haven’t performed just yet in the summer and utilising the academy might be the way to go in the short-term.
