Sheffield Wednesday are plotting a move to bring Jordan Storey back to Hillsborough ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. The central defender was on loan with the Owls during the second half of the 2021/22 season and now they want him back.
Storey’s last loan spell at Hillsborough paid dividends. He headed back to Preston North End and was considered a regular under Ryan Lowe last season, making 47 appearances and scoring twice.

That hasn’t stopped Wednesday from showing interest, however. Storey is only 25-years-old and according to Yorkshire Live, Darren Moore fancies the former loan player from making an impact with the club.
The Owls won promotion back to the Championship in the most dramatic of circumstances. They came from 4-0 behind in the play-off semi-final to knock Peterborough out and then scored in injury time to win the final against Barnsley.
Now, the hard work begins for Moore and his recruitment team. They must ensure that Wednesday are well-equipped to enjoy a sound Championship campaign with the league looking packed with quality teams.

Storey knows all about playing for Wednesday and in front of the famous fan base. He spent the second half of 2021/22 on loan at Hillsborough, making 21 appearances for the club as they lost to Sunderland in the play-offs.
Wednesday plotting move to re-sign Storey from Preston
This would be a quality move by Wednesday if they can get it over the line. Storey is a proven Championship defender and surely he would relish the chance to return to Hillsborough.
Signing him might not be easy though. Lowe is a big fan of the defender and after he starred against Wigan last season, he called him ‘fantastic’ and chose to make him integral in his team.

Wednesday do have defenders to call upon within their current squad. There is perhaps a need for some Championship expertise though and Storey would slot into the back three just nicely.
Rumour rating: 8/10 – If Wednesday can get their former loan star back it would represent a great signing by the club. Storey reads the game brilliantly well and doesn’t lose out on a deal aerially.
Furthermore, Moore knows what he’s all about. He’s signed him once already and it’s perhaps telling what type of character he is that he now wants to bring him back to Hillsborough.
