Sheffield Wednesday may have made a big mistake during the summer when they allowed Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to leave Hillsborough.
The Owls chose not to offer the youngster a new contract and he subsequently joined Hatayspor on a free transfer.
Now, reports are claiming that Hull City want to bring him back to England in January, with talks already underway.
Dele-Bashiru now wanted by Hull
According to Berk Sayar on X, the owner of Hull, Acun Ilicali, has now started negotiations to sign the winger when the window reopens.
Dele-Bashiru has been busy showing Wednesday what they’re missing over in Turkey.
He’s made 12 appearances for his new club and already registered eight goal contributions, with Hull now eyeing their move.
Dele-Bashiru was often used as a peripheral figure under Darren Moore last season.
Although he eventually featured 41 times, he was handed just 12 starts in League One, scoring five goals and claiming four assists.
Wednesday picked him up from Manchester City but for whatever reason, it appeared that he never truly convinced Moore to start him regularly.
Wednesday dropped the ball over Dele-Bashiru
At 22-years-old, the player was definitely worth another contract with the Owls.
Dele-Bashiru showed flashes of promise at Wednesday, with Moore often utilising him in central roles.
During his time with Hatayspor, the manager there has flirted with playing him in wide areas and that’s also paid dividends.
Wednesday aren’t blessed with an abundance of attacking talent as they sit rock bottom of the Championship.
Having Dele-Bashiru available to Danny Rohl would have been a sizeable bonus and it would have been another attacking option to call upon.
Now, Wednesday will be watching the January transfer window with intrigue.
If Dele-Bashiru stars at Hull this will look like another transfer mistake that Wednesday will be tarnished with.
