Danny Rohl has admitted that he has been really impressed with the Sheffield Wednesday squad since joining the club.
Danny Rohl only arrived at Hillsborough three months ago, armed with coaching experience from the likes of RB Leipzig, Southampton and Bayern Munich.
The German has created a completely different ‘culture’ at Sheffield Wednesday and has also produced seven wins in his 18 games in charge, taking the club one step closer to retaining their Championship status.
Rohl clearly has very high standards and it comes as no surprise when he has worked with the likes of Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski and Alphonso Davies.
That hasn’t stopped him praising his current crop though, claiming the captain and his players have been very ‘open-minded’ in following his style.
Speaking to The Star, Rohl said: “”Since I arrived here there has been not one situation where the captain or a player on the team has come to me and said they disagree with something.
“They are really open-minded and they follow me and my style, this is fantastic. They see also that it works. You go into meetings with the captain and this is important, I have coaches that will see things in the locker room and these are all the small details we can take to make decisions for the team.”
How good is Danny Rohl?
Danny Rohl has the same players at his disposal as Xisco Munoz did, while he has even brought a number of players back into the picture that the former Sheffield Wednesday boss didn’t approve of.
He had the same players, but a much worse league position to deal with, but has still managed to transform these team into something almost unrecognisable.
While it is clear whether the 34-year-old coach will be able to guide The Owls to safety, fans will only wish that he was in Yorkshire for a full season. Who knows what wonders he could have worked.
Fingers crossed that he can keep Sheffield Wednesday in the second tier and enjoy a full campaign at the helm next season. It would be a huge surprise to see the team battling relegation again.
Though keeping hold of Rohl for that long will be a huge challenge. His talent and potential is glaringly obvious.
