Exclusive: Sheffield Wednesday take winger Jesurun Uchegbulam on trial

Mossley AFC’s Jesurun Uchegbulam is on trial at Sheffield Wednesday, it has been confirmed to SWN.

Uchegbulam played in the Wednesday Under-23s’ 3-0 defeat against Barnsley on Monday afternoon and is understood to have impressed the Owls despite the result.

The 18-year-old winger is expected to remain with the Championship side – who are next in action against Burnley in seven days’ time – indefinitely.

Uchegbulam signed for Mossley from Stockport Town in the summer of 2018 and made his debut for the Northern Premier League Division One West side earlier this year.

He recently had a spell back at Stockport Town, where he was crowned player of the month for August, before being recalled by Mossley.

Uchegbulam’s fellow Nigerian, Osaze Urhoghide, recently signed a one-year deal with Sheffield Wednesday after impressing during a trial spell of his own.

Urhoghide has been a regular for the Owls’ U23s this season, although the defender was absent from the side that played Barnsley.
