Sheffield Wednesday star Callum Paterson was in fine form after returning to action in today’s win. The Owls beat South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham 2-0 and the Scottish star returned to the team.
Paterson missed the midweek trip to Plymouth after picking up an injury in training. He returned with aplomb today though and he seems to be an important player for Danny Rohl.
The 29-year-old has been with Wednesday since 2020 when he signed from Cardiff City. He was an integral player last season as the Owls won promotion and proved a bit of a utility man under Darren Moore.
Paterson praised for latest Wednesday performance
After today’s game, The Star produced an article with some player ratings included. They raved about Paterson and produced an interesting claim about him being akin to an icon of the game.
On Paterson, journalist Alex Miller claimed: “A big ball of energy and physical threat, bombing up and down the right. A ball into Musaba set things up for the second goal. There was a moment early in the second half when he went all Maradona.”
Paterson has made 141 appearances for the Owls during his time at the club. His versatility is unrivalled within the Wednesday ranks and he’s set to remain integral.
Paterson can star under Rohl
The player was influential in his role as a right-sided wing-back during today’s win. He was compared to Maradona, although that was clearly tongue in cheek from Miller after a moment in the second half.
Paterson always gives everything to the Wednesday cause when he’s called upon. Rohl will be learning about his squad with each passing day and he will hope that the Scottish star can remain in form this season.
