Sheffield Wednesday star Di’Shon Bernard has been raving about head coach Danny Rohl during a recent interview.

The central defender has been speaking with the Manchester Evening News.

So, what has Bernard said about Wednesday boss Rohl? Let’s take a closer look…

What Di’Shon Bernard has said about Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl

Well, it would appear as though the Owls’ central defender is relishing the chance to work with and learn from Rohl.

The German head coach has given Wednesday a fighting chance in their quest to survive relegation this season.

Wednesday hadn’t won a game when he arrived at the club but now they’re firmly in the mix to survive.

Bernard has been quizzed on his management style and he’s enjoyed working with the Wednesday head coach.

He’s also suggested that he’s told him to do something that he wasn’t being asked to do under the previous regime.

Bernard told the Manchester Evening News: “It has been really good, to be fair. His and Henrik’s understanding of the game has opened up everyone’s eyes to what football can be played.

“Personally, the belief and confidence he has in me, whatever position he needs me in, I am willing to play for him. You can see that in my qualities and everyone else’s qualities.

“The belief and confidence he has given everyone is always going to make us play better.

“It’s something that I’m used to doing (bringing the ball out from the back) and it’s something that he is recognising, giving me more belief to actually do it.”

Bernard has been a shining light this season

Some of the signings that Wednesday made in the summer haven’t gone according to plan – but Bernard is an exception.

The Jamaica international signed for Wednesday on a free after leaving Manchester United and he’s made 33 appearances this season.

Bernard will have been happy with his game time for Wednesday this season. Now, he will want to get some roots down and play even more games.

During his time at Old Trafford, he spent several periods out on loan with Portsmouth, Hull and Salford.

It’s interesting that Rohl is keen to see Bernard carry the ball out from the back more often and hopefully, it can continue.

The transformation under the new manager has been there for all to see and he looks like an exciting appointment.

Bernard is one of a number of success stories under his management.

With the player still only 23-years-old, the hope will be that he can kick on even further under Rohl at Wednesday.
