Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 away at Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday.
Sheffield Wednesday travelled to Ashton Gate to take on a managerless Bristol City side yesterday, following their impressive win over Rotherham United last weekend.
It was an attacking line up from the Owls who started the game well, and were well in the contest up until the 32nd minute when Barry Bannan was shown a straight red card.
It was a controversial decision and the Robins went on to score in the 64th minute and win the game.
Wednesday though gave a good account of themselves and can take a lot of positives from the performance, though one player who didn’t cover himself in glory was goalkeeper Cameron Dawson.
Yorkshire Live rated his performance as a 4/10, with journalist Ricky Charlesworth adding:
“An iffy afternoon. Passing was astray and his mix-up with Bannan led to the skipper being shown red. On the other hand he did make some good saves, including a terrific one off the line first half.”
Dawson has started the last five for Sheffield Wednesday now, having displace Devis Vasquez in the starting XI.
Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday dilemma – Dawson or Vasquez?
Vasquez was being lauded as one of Sheffield Wednesday’s best signings of the season earlier on.
He’s a very talented shot-stopper but he often had a mistake in him, whereas Dawson is a bit more experience in English football and perhaps a safer bet.
Dawson though struggled yesterday. He didn’t have a terrible performance but he certainly didn’t shine, with this newer system under Rohl perhaps not suited to his style of play so much.
Vasquez having come from AC Milan could be more inclined to a passing style of play and so he could be a better bet for Rohl going forward, though it would certainly be a bold decision to drop Dawson and bring in Vasquez.
