Sheffield Wednesday now boast a near 33-year record, stretching back all the way to 1991.
Sheffield Wednesday are a team steeped in history and tradition. Today though, it’s a pretty dim time for the club as they continue to fight bravely against Championship relegation.
Danny Rohl is the man in charge. He’s overseen a definite improvement in form but back-to-back defeats in the Championship leaves them in 23rd place of the table, and now five points from safety.
But this week has seen the Owls maintain a 33-year record which shows no signs of being broken any time soon.
Middlesbrough cup exit maintains Sheffield Wednesday record
The League Cup semi-final second-legs took place this week.
Chelsea and Liverpool will play in the final at Wembley next month after Chelsea thumped Middlesbrough 6-2 on aggregate, and Liverpool beat Fulham 3-2 on aggregate.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals Middlesbrough enjoyed a prolonged League Cup run this season, reaching the semis for the first time since they lifted the trophy under Steve McClaren in the 2003/04 season.
And Michael Carrick’s Boro could’ve become the first team from outside the Premier League to win either the League Cup or the FA Cup; since second tier Sheffield Wednesday won what was the Rumblelows Cup way back in 1991.

Danny Rohl can bring the glory days back to Hillsborough
Sheffield Wednesday are a million miles off winning a major trophy.
They were knocked out of the League Cup by League Two Mansfield Town this season and are now fighting tooth and nail to get themselves above water in the Championship.
But no matter the outcome of this season, there’s a solid backroom team for the club to build upon.
Rohl, Chris Powell, and Kevin Beadell to name a few well-regarded names in the Hillsborough backroom, though many will argue that until owner Dejphon Chansiri sells up, the club will never move forward.
Be that as it may, or may not, Sheffield Wednesday are in much better shape than they were a few months ago, and with a few more signings this month they could quite easily drag themselves to safety in the Championship.
Up next for the Owls is a visit from Coventry City in the FA Cup fourth round tomorrow.
