Sheffield Wednesday parted ways with Xisco Munoz on Wednesday night, with the club’s managerial search seemingly well underway.
Sheffield Wednesday sacked Munoz after a winless start to the 2023/24 Championship campaign.
The Owls sit rock bottom of the table with just two points to their name after the opening 10 games but who might come in remains a mystery, albeit an exciting one for fans.
Munoz needed to go and with Wednesday in a desperate position, there’s a glimmer of hope that Dejphon Chansiri will invest in a tried and tested manager.
And one name doing the rounds is Neil Warnock. The former Sheffield United boss is apparently open to taking over at Wednesday after leaving Huddersfield Town last month.
Another experienced name being linked, but perhaps not a very favoured one among fans, is Steve Evans. TEAMtalk claimed yesterday that the Stevenage boss is in the frame to take over at Hillsborough.
Nathan Jones was another name linked with Wednesday yesterday. The former Luton Town boss left Southampton last season but it’s said that he’s unlikely to take charge of the Owls.
Elsewhere, Oscar Garcia is said to be well in the running to take charge. The Spaniard has spent time with Watford and Brighton in the past, as well as the likes of RB Salzburg and Olympiacos, having been out of work since leaving Reims last year.
And The Star reporter Alex Miller has told fans to keep an eye on Danny Rohl; the 34-year-old was interviewed for the Wednesday job in the summer and is newly out-of-work after leaving his position as assistant coach with the German national team last month.
But these links may be worthless, after Alan Nixon claimed on Twitter yesterday that Sheffield Wednesday already have their new boss lined up, though who he is remains unknown.
Sheffield Wednesday host Huddersfield Town in the Championship tomorrow.
