Sheffield Wednesday-linked Gary Rowett reportedly being considered by Owls' Championship rivals

The Sheffield Wednesday-linked manager Gary Rowett is among those under consideration for the Huddersfield Town vacancy, according to Sky Sports.

Rowett was at one stage the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Steve Bruce at Hillsborough.

But despite speaking positively about the Wednesday position when asked about it recently, the former Derby County and Stoke City boss insists that he has not had contact from the Owls.

And Sky Sports claims that Rowett is now a possibility for Huddersfield, along with the Queens Park Rangers coach John Eustace.

The broadcaster also reports that another manager on the bookies’ list of Sheffield Wednesday contenders, Aitor Karanka, is keen to speak to the Terriers, who sacked Jan Siewert on Friday.

It is unclear however whether Karanka’s interest would be reciprocated by Wednesday’s Yorkshire rivals.

Lee Bullen remains the favourite to land the Owls job long-term, after leading the club he used to captain to two wins out of three in the new Championship season.
