Sheffield Wednesday have been warned what they are doing that could result in defeat to Swansea City tomorrow.
Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to avoid three consecutive defeats for the first time since November as they host Swansea City.
The Owls had put themselves within touching distance of safety after winning four games in a row, however they stumbled at the final hurdle and went onto suffer back-to-back defeats prior to the international break.
Danny Rohl‘s side did face two of the Championship’s best teams though, while tomorrow’s clash is surely a winnable one.
The Welsh outfit are currently sat 15th in the league table and have only lost one of their last four games on the road, however Sheffield Wednesday will be fully aware that this is a must-win game.
Three points could take the Owls out of the relegation zone and prepare them for an intense final stretch in their bid to stay in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday are ‘running out of steam’
However, journalist Justin Peach has now explained why he thinks Sheffield Wednesday may suffer another defeat in Wales.
Speaking on the Second Tier podcast about Swansea City, Peach said: “You’re going away to Sheffield Wednesday, who I’m suspecting are going to be running out of steam.
“Off the back of a 6-0 defeat to Ipswich, Wednesday will definitely tighten up and they do need to get results. It will be very interesting to see how they do because they’ve obviously just suffered back-to-back losses after a bit of a winning streak. So, not anything to be disgraced about, but how will they respond to that? It’s going to be really fascinating to see.”
Are the Owls prepared for their final battle?
Sheffield Wednesday definitely put a lot of energy into that brilliant run that saw them move within a point of safety, but I’m not sure I would say their two defeats are anything to do with ‘running out of steam’.
Ipswich and Leeds United are two excellent teams, and while the Owls certainly shouldn’t have conceded that many goals, they probably would have been out of the bottom three by now if they had faced two teams outside of the top six.
The international break has also come at the perfect time for them, because it means Danny Rohl can spend time with his players on the training ground and build that confidence back up.
There will be a very positive feeling around the club now and also an exceptional atmosphere at Hillsborough tomorrow. We will see how tired and ‘out of steam’ they look then.
