Sheffield Wednesday staged a fresh protest against owner Dejphon Chansiri last Friday, with news of the protest reaching far and wide.
Sheffield Wednesday fans have reached the end of their tether with Chansiri.
The unpopular Owls owner seems to have lost the final few of his supporters after a poor January transfer window has left the club on the brink of relegation, and on the brink of collapse.
It’s led to a fresh wave of anger aimed at the Thai businessman, with fan group The 1867 Group staging a fresh protest against Chansiri during the Championship game vs Birmingham City at Hillsborough last Friday.
Thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans held up leaflets reading ‘out of touch, out of time, Chansiri just sell up and go’.
And news of the protest has now reached Chansiri’s home country Thailand.

Thai news outlet The Thaiger has reported on Friday’s protest.
The English-language publication, which has over 15,000 followers on X, reported how Sheffield Wednesday fans are calling for change because of ‘high ticket prices and a lack of recent investment’, as well as ’embarrassing public outbursts, poor management, and a failure to address fans’ concerns’.
The same article adds that the Chansiri family, which owns the Thai Union Group and is the largest producer of canned tuna in the world, has a net worth of US$575 million.
Pressure mounting on Sheffield Wednesday owner
There doesn’t seem to be anyway back for Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday.
He’s made too many mistakes and has landed the club in such a mess that fans will never truly forgive him, no matter what he does.
And now with the Thai media picking up on the story, it could go from bad to worse for the Sheffield Wednesday owner.
The news could quickly spread across his homeland as the protest here in S6 looks set to grow and grow over the coming weeks.
And it could really hurt Chansiri in the pocket.
His and his family name could quickly lose its reputation and that would be bad news for the Owls owner, so news of The 1867’s Group’s protest hitting Thailand is certainly good news for their cause.
It definitely looks like the club needs a change before matters off the pitch worsen.
The club has been so poorly managed for a long time now and matters only seem to be getting worse, with the club making very little progress on the pitch.
