Korede Adedoyin could be about to earn Sheffield Wednesday a windfall during the January transfer window.

That is according to The Star.

So, what is being said about Adedoyin with the January transfer window now open? We’ve taken a closer look…

The talented youngster has been gone from Hillsborough for almost two years but the club were savvy when they let him leave.

Adedoyin left Wednesday in search of first-team football and joined Accrington where he’s fetched up 50 appearances.

According to The Star, the forward is now a wanted man, with Cheltenham and Hatayspor eyeing a move for the player this month.

Wednesday plucked Adedoyin from Everton as a youngster. He only made three appearances for the Owls, although something must have been seen in him.

If the player does leave Accrington this month, Wednesday have inserted a clause that will see them claim a percentage of any profit they make.

In our view, that shows common sense from a Wednesday perspective and that is something that hasn’t always been evident behind the scenes.

With Hatayspor in the mix to sign the 23-year-old it could see Adedoyin link up with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru this month.

The youngster left Wednesday in the summer after rejecting a new contract and he’s enjoying a good start to life in Turkey.

Dele-Bashiru has scored four goals and claimed four assists since leaving Wednesday and Adedoyin might see a move over there as a wise move.

It’s great that Wednesday placed a clause in Adedoyin’s contract so that they can still recoup some profit on the youngster.

Dejphon Chansiri has rarely got things right at Hillsborough but this was a positive move made by the owner.

If Adedoyin is set to play at a higher level, it will now be intriguing to see what kind of career he goes onto have following his Wednesday exit.
