Garry Monk has claimed that Adam Reach is one of the fittest players at Sheffield Wednesday.
A somewhat unflattering photo of Reach was added to and quickly removed from Wednesday’s official Instagram account after last week’s League Cup defeat against Everton.
It had some fans and certain media outlets alike questioning the Owls midfielder’s fitness.
But Reach’s performance at Middlesbrough the following Saturday – a game in which he scored one goal and assisted another in a 4-1 win for his side – suggested there is little wrong with his condition.
And asked about the image at Thursday’s pre-Wigan Athletic press conference, his manager Monk told the Owls’ official Facebook page: “I’m sure eight or nine per cent body fat is bang on your weight. That’s all you need to know.

“It’s quite funny that stuff actually, to be fair. It’s for people to have banter with and stuff like that but Adam’s probably one of the fittest players at this club. It was just a bit windy on his shirt!”
Reach has failed to start just one of Sheffield Wednesday’s 10 Championship matches this season.
The 26-year-old was this week named in Who Scored’s divisional team of the month for September, alongside his Wednesday teammates Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher.
