New Sheffield Wednesday signing Anthony Musaba has spoken out about his long-term plans.

Talking on the official Sheffield Wednesday YouTube channel, Anthony Musaba has indicated that he sees his long-term future at Hillsborough Stadium. Musaba said, “I have signed here and in my head I’d also like to stay here…for the future, not to go on loan or whatever, I’m really focused on Sheffield Wednesday and to start with this season.”

Musaba has certainly had his share of loan moves in recent seasons. Whilst on the books with Monaco, the 22-year-old had temporary stints with Cercle Brugge in Belgium, Dutch sides Heerenveen and NEC, and French outfit Metz.

His most successful of these spells in terms of goals came with Cercle Brugge, who he netted 6 times for in the 2020/21 campaign. Sheffield Wednesday fans will hope Musaba can rediscover his goalscoring touch in the Championship this season.

Musaba himself will hope that his permanent move to Yorkshire will allow him to settle and get comfortable at the club. The security of having his long-term future settled should help him produce his best on the pitch for the Owls.

Musaba already making an impact

Xisco Munoz has already seen flashes of Musaba’s quality. The Dutch winger was introduced from the bench in Sheffield Wednesday’s opening day defeat to Southampton.

Whilst the Saints dominated the ball, Musaba’s pace, directness, and willingness to lead the press made life more difficult for the visitors after his introduction. Xisco will hope to see more of that as the weeks go on. The Spanish coach knows that his side face a tough task in the second tier this season but Musaba gives his team a different dimension going forward that could prove to be a difference-maker.
