A sacking at one of Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals could affect the Owls’ FA Cup replay against Luton Town next week.
Stoke City relieved Gary Rowett of his duties earlier on Tuesday and the Luton manager, Nathan Jones, has been installed as the early favourite to replace him with bookmakers, Sky Bet.

Despite strong links to experienced bosses such as David Moyes and Sam Allardyce, Jones is currently odds-on (5/6) for the Potters job.
The Welshman led Wednesday’s third round opponents to promotion as League Two runners-up last season and currently has the Bedfordshire side on course for another second-placed finish in the division above.

Losing him would be a huge blow to their chances of achieving that, however, and could be the difference between Luton and Sheffield Wednesday playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge later this month.

Moyes, Martin O’Neill, Slavisa Jokanovic and Allardyce are all 10/1 or shorter to become the next Stoke manager.
