Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the signing of PSG’s Djeidi Gassama, it has been claimed.
Gassama, 19, was first linked with Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the summer. The link eventually went cold, but it’s now being claimed that Gassama is closing in on a move to Hillsborough.
Journalist Lassana Camara has revealed on Twitter that Gassama ‘will engage’ with Sheffield Wednesday today, ahead of signing a three-year deal with the option for a further year.
The Mauritanian-born winger looks set to become the Owls’ 10th signing of the summer so far and he should add some much-needed depth to Xisco Munoz’s attacking ranks.
Camara tweeted earlier this morning:
Sheffield Wednesday are in need of a bit of attacking quality. That was evident in their last outing at Hull City which ended in a 4-2 defeat – a scoreline which flattered Munoz’s side who’ve now lost their opening two league games of the season.

A huge potential signing…
Camara’s tweet suggests that a move is well in the offing. But until it’s confirmed by a more local source, it remains a rumour.
Still, Gassama has been linked with Wednesday already this summer and so it definitely seems like there’s an interest there, and given his PSG background, it should be an exciting capture for the Owls.
Munoz’s attacking options are mostly the same that the club had in League One. The Owls lack pace and they lack options on the wing, but Gassama’s arrival should ease a few issues for Munoz as he looks to get a tune out of this Wednesday outfit.
Sheffield Wednesday return to action v Preston North End at Hillsborough on Saturday, but whether or not Gassama arrives in time to feature in that one remains to be seen.
