According to a report from the Sheffield Star, Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing up a free transfer move for Danny Simpson.
The right-back has been a free agent since leaving Huddersfield Town last year, and with the Owls desperately needing something to change between now and the end of the season, they’re reportedly looking for reinforcements.
The defender is of course most famous for winning the Premier League with Leicester City in their fairytale season, but let’s not forget that he’s also incredibly experienced at this level.

Indeed, Simpson has won promotion to the Premier League on three different occasions, with Sunderland, Newcastle and QPR.
Of course, Wednesday won’t be pushing for promotion this season, but Simpson’s experience and winning mentality could be massive for the Yorkshire outfit between now and the end of the season.
Whether or not Simpson could come in and make an immediate impact is a topic for debate, he’s not played football for almost 12 months, and while he’s been training with Leicester City to keep his fitness up, there’s a big difference between fitness and match fitness.
The Owls could certainly do with an extra body through the door to change their fortunes in their crucial relegation run-in.
Whether or not Simpson ends up joining the Steel City outfit remains to be seen.
