Ipswich midfielder Panutche Camara has pulled out of a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls had been linked with a move for the player but Charlton and Peterborough are now leading the chase for his signature.
According to Reach PLC journalist Darren Witcoop, the deal looks to be off. Camara was seemingly on the radar for Wednesday but now it would appear as though League One is his likely destination.
The 26-year-old joined Ipswich from Plymouth in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately, the move proved nothing short of a disaster and he made just four appearances during the 2022/23 campaign.
Now, he’s going to move on from Portman Road and he might have felt like he was hitting the jackpot heading to Wednesday. They won promotion back in May, although only one new signing has arrived at the club.
It’s not clear why he pulled out of the loan to Hillsborough. Wednesday will now go back to the drawing board in an attempt to bolster Xisco Munoz’s squad before the big kick-off.
Before his Ipswich debacle, Camara played for Plymouth and Crawley. He made 118 appearances for Crawley and 95 during his time with the Pilgrims.

It’s not looking particularly good for the Owls. Only Reece James has signed for the club on a permanent deal for the club, signing terms at the end of his loan spell.
Camara would have provided something a little bit different to the Wednesday squad. He typically operates in the middle of the park and is a stylish performer on his day.
Ryan Lowe used to manage Camara at Plymouth and he played for Wednesday. He’s also a huge fan of the midfielder and back in 2021, he told Plymouth Live: “He’s a fantastic player. The fans love him and we love him, that’s why he plays every game.
Wednesday will perhaps be a bit disappointed not to get this one over the line. Now, it’s a case of back to the drawing board and the close is ticking for Munoz to get some players in before the big kick-off.
