BBC Sheffield reporter Rob Staton says Sheffield Wednesday are yet to make an offer for departing Rotherham United man Chiedozie Ogbene.
Ogbene, 26, is leaving Rotherham United as a free agent at the end of this month. And unsurprisingly, he’s been linked with a handful of Championship clubs already with Sheffield Wednesday said to be among the sides keen.
Staton previously revealed that the Owls, along with fellow League One promotion-winners Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle all want to sign Ogbene on a free transfer this summer, but Staton has since revealed that Wednesday are yet to make an offer for the Republic of Ireland international.

Ogbene’s eight goals and four assists in the Championship last season played a huge part in helping the Millers to achieve Championship safety. The Irishman showed great quality in what was his fourth season at Rotherham, with each campaign having seen Ogbene get better and better.

There’s still time here. There’s no immediate need to panic but Darren Moore and co will know that time will soon be of the essence, with Ogbene’s contract officially expiring in little over two weeks.
Teams will be readying their proposals but expect Wednesday to be doing likewise. They seem quite keen on Ogbene and it’s easy to see why – he’d add some much-needed pace and quality to the Wednesday front-line, and on a free transfer, it’d be a very shrewd signing for the Owls.
Much more is needed though if Wednesday are to beat the drop next season. There’s positions across the pitch which are perhaps in need of some Championship quality, so expect to see a busy Sheffield Wednesday side in the summer transfer window this year.
