According to Football Insider, Sheffield Wednesday have entered the race to sign Wigan Athletic attacker Joe Dodoo this summer.

The 25-year-old joined the Latics in February on a short-term deal, and with his contract expiring this summer, he’s attracted a number of suitors.

Dodoo has of course played for a number of high-profile clubs including Leicester City and Rangers.

He has one Premier League appearance to his name, while he has also scored three goals in the Scottish top-flight.

Unfortunately, his stock has fallen in recent years and he’s now playing his football in League One with Wigan.

Dodoo has been a handy addition at Wigan, contributing to seven goals in 19 appearances as the Latics managed to stay up in the third-tier.

Dodoo could be available for a free in the summer, but Wigan are reportedly keen to tie him down to new terms.

With Wednesday looking like they could drop down to League One, Dodoo could be an excellent addition for the Owls, but unfortunately, they’re not the only club in for him.

Indeed, both Ipswich and Rotherham are also interested in signing the attacker, so it may not be a straight-forward process for Wednesday.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming weeks, especially if Wednesday do end up getting relegated.
