Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jeff Hendrick has been missing in action for the last few games. Now, a report has explained what the situation is with the player.
Hendrick signed for Wednesday on loan from Newcastle on transfer deadline day in August. He’s not really been able to showcase his true ability given that he’s been in and out of the team.
As a result, his performance levels have been somewhat disjointed and his absence in recent weeks has raised question marks over his loan deal at Hillsborough.

It would seem that the midfielder’s absence isn’t as deep as it may seem. According to The Star, it seems as though Hendrick has picked up a knee problem that needs managing carefully.
Hendrick hasn’t played since he came on as a late substitute in the game against Blackburn when Wednesday claimed victory. On that occasion, he came on for Barry Bannan to help the Owls see the game out.
Hendrick was way out of favour at Newcastle when Wednesday chose to sign him. He does still earn £50,000-a-week at St James’ Park and it seems unlikely that they will get him off their wage bill any time soon.
Wednesday have a decision to make on Hendrick
The 31-year-old hasn’t played for six games now and that’s left Wednesday fans wondering what the situation is with him. Now, it remains to be seen just how serious the knee problem is and whether or not he will play for the club again.
In total, Hendrick has made 10 appearances for the Owls, with just five of those coming in the starting eleven. Initially, the player joined the club on loan until the end of the season, although Rohl might choose to end that agreement early to free up another loan space.
The January transfer window is likely to define Wednesday and what they achieve this season. As a result, Rohl might be keen to end Hendrick’s stay and look to bolster his squad with more firepower instead during the window.
