Report: Rivals better Sheffield Wednesday's Connor Wickham bid, but Crystal Palace striker favours Owls return

Sheffield Wednesday’s Connor Wickham offer is not the best of those received by Crystal Palace, according to The Sun.

But it’s claimed that Crystal Palace are ready to send Wickham to back to Wednesday on loan – if the Owls revise their bid to include a promotion bonus.

The newspaper adds that while the 26-year-old has also been approached by Cardiff City and Bristol City, he would prefer a move to Hillsborough, where he previously starred across two temporary spells.

Wickham’s partner is also believed to support the Owls, along with her family.

If Sheffield Wednesday are to win the race for the Crystal Palace striker then Cardiff could turn to one of the Owls’, according to Alan Nixon.

The occasional Sun reporter claims that the Bluebirds are looking into a move for Jordan Rhodes and would outbid Wigan Athletic.

Meanwhile, Wednesday have completed a loan deal for the versatile Parma forward Alessio da Cruz.

Da Cruz appeared to have flown into Manchester on Tuesday amid reports that he was scheduled for a medical at Hillsborough.

Once said to have been scouted by Arsenal, the 23-year-old Dutchman scored five goals and created six in 15 Serie B games for Ascoli earlier this season.

Crystal Palace have already signed one new striker this month in the shape of Everton’s Cenk Tosun, while Christian Benteke is due back from injury soon.
