Chilean international Juan Delgado is in England ahead of a proposed move to Sheffield Wednesday, reports The Star.

Xisco Munoz looks to be closing in on his first signing as Sheffield Wednesday manager, and it’s a familiar face to the Sheffield Wednesday boss.

Munoz and Dlegado previously worked together at Spanish side Gimnastic and now The Star say that Delgado, who currently plays for Portguese side Pacos de Ferreira, is in England ahead of a move to Hillsborough, with the move ‘looking increasingly likely’.

Reece James is Sheffield Wednesday’s sole signing of the summer so far but the 30-year-old Delgado looks set to be the next – the 12-cap Chilean international plays as a right-sided winger or wing-back.

Delgado coming to Sheffield Wednesday

It’s been a while in the making, but Munoz looks to be closing in on his first Sheffield Wednesday signing – and it’s an impressive one at that.

Delgado has 192 carer appearances to his name and 34 goals, having played in his native Chile, Spain, and Portugal.

He’s yet to experience English football but he should be experienced enough to make the transition, and Munoz will be hoping that he can get the best out of Delgado whom he’s worked with at Gimnastic.

The Star’s report says that Delgado is in England ahead of the move and so it looks like it’s nearing completion.

Munoz will be hoping that this Delgado move can kick his side’s summer transfer window into life, with the start of the new season just a couple of weeks away.
