According to a report from Yorkshire Live, Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the signing of free agent attacker Andre Green.

It had been reported weeks ago that the Owls had an interest in Green, but they faced stiff competition from the likes of Luton and Brentford.

However, it now seems as though the Owls have won the race for his signature after weeks of talks, with Green reportedly set to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.

Green has been without a club since leaving Aston Villa when his contract expired in the summer.

The winger wanted to analyse all of his options before committing himself to a club, and it seems as though Wednesday have convinced him to sign for them.

Green looks set to become Wednesday’s first signing of the window, and he will provide some much-needed competition in the wide areas.

With Wednesday’s next two games postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak at the Owls’ training ground, Green could be set to make his debut in the Yorkshire outfit’s next game.

So, what type of player will Wednesday be getting?

Green is certainly an exciting attacker, and one of his former managers even went as far as to compare him to Ronaldo.

“He’s got ridiculous pace and goes past people like Ronaldo used to. It’s as if they’re not there,” Tim Sherwood told The Athletic.

Hopefully, this signing can spark a bit of life into Wednesday’s attack.
