Report claims Sheffield Wednesday-linked Stuart Findlay could join League One club for half his £1m valuation

The rumoured Sheffield Wednesday target, Stuart Findlay, could be joining an English League One club.

Both the Daily Mail and Scottish Sun have credited Wednesday with an interest in the Kilmarnock centre-back, who it was claimed was valued around the £1 million mark.

But the latter publication reports that the Oxford United manager – and an old foe of the Owls – Karl Robinson, has sanctioned a move for Findlay, for whom the two clubs are edging closer to an agreement.

And it adds that the newly called-up Scotland international could cost United as little as £500,000.

Sheffield Wednesday are said to want to strengthen in Findlay’s position, despite the recent free transfer addition of Julian Börner.

But an ongoing soft transfer embargo looks to be proving prohibitive.

With Börner a left-footer himself, the Owls may have alternative targets to Findlay in mind anyway, having another two already on the books in Jordan Thorniley and Joost van Aken.
