According to a report by the Sheffield Star, QPR are keeping tabs on Matt Penney with a view to signing him this summer.
The 23-year-old is one of a number of Wednesday players out of contract at the end of the season, and while the Owls may drop down to League One, Penney seems to have a future in the Championship regardless of what happens.
The academy graduate has been out of favour this term, starting just 10 games in the Championship, but despite the fact he’s struggled to get into a side that looks destined for relegation, QPR seemingly see something in him.
Penney would certainly do a job in League One if Wednesday are to go down, and at the age of 23, he’s still one for the future.

However, his contract is up at the end of the campaign and Wednesday have reportedly put those types of negotiations on hold with all of their players until their fate is decided.
The Owls may yet offer Penney a new deal, but the allure of staying in the Championship may turn Penney’s head.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Rs move for the Wednesday academy graduate, but with an exodus seemingly on the horizon at Hillsborough, this could be the first of many of these types of reports.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming months.
