Recent Sheffield Wednesday trialist Jesurun Uchegbulam misses in penalty shootout as Mossley exit cup

The recent Sheffield Wednesday trialist Jesurun Uchegbulam missed from the spot as his side Mossley AFC were knocked out of the Manchester Premier Cup by Droylsden on Tuesday, after a penalty shootout.

Uchegbulam appeared in the Wednesday U23s’ 3-0 defeat against Barnsley at the end of last month and, SWN are told, made a positive impression on the Hillsborough staff.

But the winger has continued to feature for Mossley as he and his agent wait for details of a second trial spell at Middlewood Road, where the Owls want him to spend another week.

And he was in the thick of the action against Droylsden, as evidenced by the following tweets from Mossley’s official account:

But with the Northern Premier League North West Division duo inseparable after 90 minutes, penalties ensued.

And it was all going so well until Uchegbulam stepped up – after which Mossley failed to convert again.

Sheffield Wednesday U23s are next in action against Wigan at Hillsborough on Saturday lunchtime – three hours before Mossley host Colne.

And it remains to be seen which of the two Uchegbulam will turn out for.
