A photo has emerged on Facebook appearing to show Steve Bruce in Sheffield city centre, alongside Stephen Clemence, Dejphon Chansiri and Amadeu Paixao.

Reports claim Bruce will be named the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday later today, although it is suggested that the former Aston Villa boss may not take charge of the Owls immediately due to prior commitments.

In the meantime, it is speculated that Clemence will be involved in first-team affairs, alongside another of Bruce’s Villa backroom team, Steve Agnew (uncle of the loaned-out Sheffield Wednesday striker, Jordan Rhodes).

But the presence of Paixao, who is understood to act as adviser to Chansiri, is unlikely to go down well with some Owls fans.

It is thought that Paixao has had a significant influence on Wednesday’s transfer dealings since 2016, many of which have not worked out and left the club in a difficult situation, financially.

It remains to be seen how much control of Sheffield Wednesday’s recruitment (if any) Bruce will be given.
