A photo has emerged on Twitter which appears to show the Sheffield Wednesday striker Atdhe Nuhiu exchanging shirts with a former Owls loanee.

Nuhiu was part of the Kosovo squad beaten 5-3 by England in Southampton on Tuesday, although he remained an unused substitute.

And he can be seen in conversation afterwards with the England midfielder Ross Barkley, holding their jerseys in hand.

Barkley had his first taste of regular first-team football as a temporary Wednesday player, after joining the Owls for what would be a two-month loan spell in September 2012.

The then Everton man scored four goals in 13 games for Dave Jones’ side before he broke into his parent club’s plans – via another loan, this time to Leeds United – and was later sold for £15 million to Chelsea.

Nuhiu arrived at Sheffield Wednesday the following summer, missing Barkley, whose knowledge of the 30-year-old may not be the strongest still – even after to their St Mary’s encounter.
