Darren Moore and Sheffield Wednesday parted ways last night, and social media is still brimming with reaction to the news.

There’s still so much shock and surprise to the news that Moore and Sheffield Wednesday mutually agreed to part ways last night.

Fans are still waiting for some explanation and they’ll no doubt be asking a lot of questions at tomorrow night’s fan forum, which could be an explosive one in wake of this news.

But one name who isn’t surprised by the news is Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony, who tweeted last night:

MacAnthony’s Posh side lost out to Sheffield Wednesday in the League One play-off semi-finals last month. Peterborough thumped Wednesday 4-0 in the first leg and it looked all but guaranteed that Posh would be in the final, but for Wednesday overturning the deficit with a 5-1 win, before winning on penalties.

Something going on?

MacAnthony has worked in football a long time now. He’s a very wise head in the game and someone who knows the ins and outs of football hierarchy, and perhaps he believes that something was afoot behind the scenes at Wednesday.

It seems clear that there must have been some kind of major disagreement between Moore and the Wednesday hierarchy, though what that disagreement is about is the question.

Could it be a disagreement over player transfers or resources for this summer’s transfer window? Or differences about the long-term vision of the club?

It remains to be seen, but Wednesday fans will hopefully get clarity on the news when Dejphon Chansiri hosts the fans forum on Wednesday.
