Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with axed Rangers boss Michael Beale.
Sheffield Wednesday are on the lookout for their next boss and yesterday, Alan Nixon claimed that former QPR and Rangers boss Beale has been chasing the Hillsborough vacancy.
But reporter Rob Staton has provided some clarity on the situation, stating that there’s not been any contact between Beale and Sheffield Wednesday.
Staton tweeted on Sunday.
“For clarity, understand no contact between Sheffield Wednesday and Michael Beale and none expected, as #SWFC prepare to appoint new boss.”
The 43-year-old Beale oversaw 43 matches in less than a year in charge of Rangers, winning 31 of them to hand him a 72% win record, compared to his 41% win record during a five month spell at QPR last year.
Sheffield Wednesday in for Rohl?
Danny Rohl seems to be the leading candidate right now, and Staton’s above tweet on Beale further suggests that Rohl is the man for Sheffield Wednesday.
Beale, whilst a good coach, had a tough time at Rangers, and jumping into another very difficult job at Wednesday so soon after may not have been ideal for either party.
Rohl though seems like an exciting appointment, albeit a risky one given his lack of experience as a first-team manager.
But as a coach, Rohl seems very intelligent and well-regarded, and going forward, he’s the type of manager Wednesday should have at the helm.
Whether he keeps the Owls in the Championship though, should he land the job that is, remains to be seen.
