Sheffield Wednesday’s newest arrival has spoken about working with two of the Premier League’s biggest legends.

Speaking to the club website, Kevin Beadell explained the influence he had taken from working with Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Kevin Beadell was finally confirmed as Sheffield Wednesday‘s new head of recruitment on Wednesday, almost six months after his predecessor David Downes left for Blackpool.

The transfer chief first started in football when he became an academy scout for Arsenal in 1995. Beadell then went onto become a youth and first team scout at Manchester United, before returning to the Emirates Stadium in 2010.

Beadell then worked his way up with Arsenal, eventually becoming their lead scout in the UK for U16s to U23s.

After five years, the 47-year-old was appointed as Cardiff City’s Head of First Team and Under 23s Recruitment, before leaving to start his own business as a football consultant in the summer.

However, it hasn’t taken Beadell very long to get back into a football club and he will now have a busy few weeks ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking on his time with the Premier League clubs, Beadell said: “I’ve been in recruitment for over 27 years now.

“During that journey I’ve had 10 years at Manchester United under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson and some great mentors and chief scouts. That was the same at Arsenal where I had 10 years with Arsene Wenger and some great mentors.”

What does this mean for Sheffield Wednesday?

Arsenal and Manchester United are known for two of the best academies in the country, with the Gunners bringing through the likes of Bukayo Saka, Jack Wilshere and Eddie Nketiah. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have developed players such as Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo.

Kevin Beadell could well have played a key part in bringing some key players to both clubs and working under such high profile managers will only have benefitted him during his long career in recruitment.

Sheffield Wednesday is of course a completely different kettle of fish, but bringing Beadell in is surely a suggestion that the club are heading in the right direction and are prepared to bring in some quality players next month.
