Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough in the Championship last night.
For Sheffield Wednesday and Xisco Munoz, it’s another point on the board. But the Owls may be ruing the missed opportunity last night, having initially taken a 1-0 lead into half-time.
Anthony Musaba came on during the first half and opened the scoring, but for Darragh Lenihan bundling the ball over the line in the second half to ensure that the points were split.
Summer signing Musaba came on for Josh Windass who was forced off n the first half. But speaking to The Star after the game, Munoz played down the severity of Windass’ injury, revealing that it was only an impact injury.
The Spaniard said:
“With Josh he’s honest. And in the last games he’s given big big things for the team, and then today he received an impact injury – but it’s nothing serious, more of a precaution. We will see if tomorrow (Thursday) we have any new information – but I asked him, and he says it’s only an impact.”
And, as per The Star, Munoz also suggested that Dominic Iorfa could be in contention to feature v Swansea City this weekend, after the 28-year-old was withdrawn early v Ipswich Town and then rested for last night’s game.
Wednesday have now lost just one of their last three games in the league, though a win last night could’ve lifted them out of the bottom three.
Another crucial game for the Owls…
Every game this season is a crucial one for Sheffield Wednesday. But given their poor form so far, the games against those in and around the bottom three take on extra importance.
Swansea City join Wednesday and Middlesbrough in the bottom three as things stand, and that’s where the Owls are heading to this weekend.
Michael Duff’s side are also winless in the Championship after seven games, claiming a point away at another struggling side in QPR last night.
Whether or not Windass and/or Iorfa features on Saturday remains to be seen. But both players are experienced names in this Wednesday side and having them available would certainly bolster Wednesday’s chances of taking something from this one.
And as per Munoz’s comments, it seems like both could well be in contention.
