The Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk has provided fitness updates on Massimo Luongo and Aden Flint.

Luongo suffered a hyperextended knee in Wednesday’s win at Birmingham City last month and has missed the Owls’ last five fixtures, of which they have lost four and won just one.

While Flint was withdrawn in the early stages of the defeat at Rotherham United last week with a hamstring injury, on which he has undergone surgery.

Speaking via the official Wednesday Twitter account on Thursday, Monk had mixed news to give.

Luongo’s absence means that Joey Pelupessy is likely to keep his place in central midfield against Millwall on Saturday, having silenced some of his critics in the win over Bournemouth on Tuesday.

But Wednesday could welcome back Tom Lees into Flint’s role, with the former having missed the Bournemouth game after his wife went into labour.

The Owls are also boosted by the return from suspension of Joost van Aken, who will be vying with Lees, Dominic Iorfa, Julian Borner and Liam Palmer for a starting berth.
