Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has been praised for his efforts as the Owls Beat Bristol City yesterday.

The plaudits came from Bristol City manager Liam Manning who was speaking with The Star.

So, what did the Robins boss have to say about Bannan after Wednesday beat Bristol City 2-1? Let’s take a closer look…

What Liam Manning said about Sheffield Wednesday star Barry Bannan

Well, this was a vintage performance from Bannan and he continues to roll back the years for the Owls.

Danny Rohl has made lots of changes since he came to the club but Bannan has remained a key figure.

Wednesday went within three points of safety by seeing off Bristol City yesterday and it really is game on in the push for survival.

Manning after the game had nothing but praise for Wednesday – with captain Bannan in his sights for some plaudits.

He told The Star: “I spoke to Chris Powell beforehand, you can only compliment the staff and the job they’ve done here.

“When you look at Wednesday they’re fighting and the lads are giving everything.

“You can see that in the way the guys are willing to run, willing to compete. You see Barry Bannan running back in injury time to block crosses and trackback.

“When you look at that side of it you can only give credit to them and I wish them all the best.”

Bannan is going to be integral for the Owls this season

At 34-years-old, Wednesday won’t be able to rely on Bannan for too much longer.

However, on his current form, he’s rolling back the years and yesterday he produced another sterling performance.

Rohl has kept faith in Bannan as the leader of the Wednesday team – despite not placing his trust in other experienced players like Lee Gregory.

Wednesday are now withing touching distance of survival with rock-bottom Rotherham to come next away from home.

Bannan looks like being an integral player between now and the end of the season and it was classy for Manning to praise the Wednesday star after suffering defeat yesterday.
