Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has made a very interesting claim about their upcoming meeting with Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking in the Foxes’ pre-match press conference, the predicted tomorrow’s clash to be ‘the worst’ for the visitors.
Sheffield Wednesday will come up against arguably their toughest opponent yet tomorrow evening, as they host Leicester City in the Championship.
The Owls currently sit ten points from safety rock bottom of the table, while Leicester are top after winning 14 of their 17 games so far.
Enzo Maresca’s side have scored almost four times as many goals as Sheffield Wednesday (31) and have conceded almost a third of the Owls’ tally (10).
Despite Leicester being clear favourites and dominating all stats, the former assistant to Pep Guardiola still believes it could be the ‘worst’ game for his team.
When asked about Sheffield Wednesday, Maresca said: “Exactly the same as before QPR. It’s the perfect game for them. Beating us will solve lots of problems. QPR was difficult and it will be the same. They have changed under the new manager, they are now very aggressive and high pressing.
“With the new manager, they have played six or seven games and they have changed the shape three or four times. It’s difficult to think how they are going to play.
“Probably for us it’s the worst game for us, because for them it could be the day to start the rebuild. I already told the players it’s the worst game.”
Can Sheffield Wednesday surprise Leicester?
There is no denying that Sheffield Wednesday’s match against Leicester would be the perfect time to kickstart a turnaround. Hillsborough under the lights only makes the atmosphere ten times better too.
However, Danny Rohl and his players would have to get everything bang on to be in with a chance of causing an upset against the Foxes.
Leicester’s defeats this season all ended 1-0, while only one of them came away from home.
If Sheffield Wednesday are to snatch something then it will have to be their defending that is on point, with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall really impressing recently.
Meanwhile, the Owls attack will have to be ready to pounce at any mistake.
